Castlelyons NS support Bóthar na nGabhar

Sonas were all smiles when getting their eggs.
It was celebrations all round in Le Chéile when receiving their eggs.

Castlelyons NS pupils have been supporting Bóthar’s Fly a Goat to Africa scheme for the past 20 years. Each year, we sell raffle tickets during Lent in support of this worthy cause. We hold a raffle on the day of the Easter holidays for an Easter egg in each class as a reward for the children’s efforts. All the names are then put in a draw for one pupil to name the goat we will be sending to Africa.

The winners of the 2020 Bóthar na nGabhar raffle.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh, on behalf of Bóthar, for your generous support of this worth cause.

Cáisc Shona dhaoibh go léir/ Happy Easter to all.

Wishing Mrs. Foley all the best for her retirement

Mrs. Foley (Special Education Teacher) retired after 18 years in Castlelyons NS. Mrs. Foley was appointed in October 2002 and served as class teacher here for many years before spending the last number of years as one of our special education teachers.

After qualifying from Carysfort College, she started her teaching career in Conna NS, followed by a number of years in Araglen NS and then Gaelscoil de Híde, Fermoy, before joining our staff in Castlelyons in 2002.

Mrs. Foley was an excellent teacher and educator and had a particular flair for the teaching of English and in the area of special education. Above all, one of her outstanding qualities is her compassion and kindness which she always showed to the children in her care. She was a fantastic colleague who will be greatly missed in Castlelyons NS.

I wish, on behalf of the entire school community, to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Mrs. Foley for her contribution to the development and success of the school down through the years and to wish her goof health and happiness in her retirement.

Gabhaimis buíochas ó chroí leat Margaret agus guímis saol fada agus gach rath agus sonas ort sna blianta atá romhainn. (Due to current Covid 19 restrictions, we intend to celebrate Mrs. Foley’s (and Mrs O Regan’s) retirement in a more public fashion at a later stage
