We held Grandparents Day in the school on Wednesday 3rd of March as part of Catholic Schools week. Grandparents of the Rang 1 were invited to the halla in the school. Children brought photographs of any grandparetns who were unable to attend. A candle was lit to represent each child’s grandparents who are alive or who had passed on.
Rang 1 were very excited and happy to see their grandparents in the school. Grandparents were just as happy. The children asked questions about school long ago and grandparents told stories.
Rang 1 then recited a poem by Christy Kennealy “It’ll be O.K” from their Alive O religion programme. They also spoke about their favourite subject at school .
Everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and some goodies. The children are very grateful to all who helped to make this such a special day.
I am sure that they will remember it for many years to come.
