Last week in Castlelyons N.S we celebrated the types of work engineers do.We had hugely informative talks from various local engineers, some of whom have children attending the school. On behalf of all the staff and children we would like to once again thank Gareth Clegg,Gerald McCarthy,Shane O’Neill,Richard Morrison,Ger Burke and Margaret Rosner for sharing their knowledge, experiences and experiments with 3rd,4th,5th and 6th.Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
On Friday last both Rang a Cúig agus a Sé welcomed Linda Callanan and her team of scientists to the school. The children were given a great opportunity to experience some hands on experiments giving them a flavour of the different branches of Science they will encounter in their future education.
The children had a very enjoyable and educating morning for which we express our sincerest thanks to Linda and her team.Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
Here is a link to our slot on Today FM which has been played throughout the week on Today FM. Well done again to Dónal and Rang 4, a great achievement for our school at a national level.
Rang 3 and Rang 4 were visited today by Mary Barry who spoke to them about composting, upcycling and soil temperatures. Mary brought a wormery with her which was a big hit. The children sewed lettuce, spinach and rocket, we are looking forward to some tasty salads in a couple of weeks. Many thanks Mary.
